Event Description

When beginning to research the American Civil War, one can face a daunting task if unsure of the various sources available - both primary and secondary accounts - and how to use them. During this program, Civil War historian Michael K. Shaffer will explore basic research methods; investigate memoirs, regimental histories, and auto-biographies; and take a look at the myriad websites offering information ranging from period newspapers to soldier service records. Visitors welcome!
