(Cobb County, Ga.) - November 10, 2011 - Leaders of one of the Southeast's most influential destination marketing agencies revealed their new name and identity today saying it more accurately reflects the energy of their county, makes it easier to reach consumers and will help increase awareness of all that is available from Cobb County, one of the 100 largest counties in the nation.

Cobb Travel & Tourism, formerly known as the Cobb County Convention & Visitors Bureau, represents "Atlanta's sweet spot," and the home of many popular destinations, major corporations and safe communities.  The third largest county in Georgia, Cobb is a preferred destination for vacation travelers and planners of conventions, tradeshows and special events.

The agency and its members play an influential role in economic development efforts supporting travel and tourism's position as the number one economic driver in Cobb County. The industry has a total economic impact of more than $1.73 billion and employs over 25,000 people.

"Plain and simple, tourism is the welcome mat for economic development," said Holly Bass, president and CEO of Cobb Travel & Tourism, when revealing the agency's new brand.  "Our new look captures the modern spirit of Cobb and shows the vitality behind our role as the information source for people learning why they need to include Cobb County in their travel plans."

"Cobb truly is Atlanta's sweet spot," said Don Geiger, chairman of Cobb Travel & Tourism. "Each year, thousands of people pick spots in Cobb as their destination whether it is for a convention, meeting or leisure. I'm proud of the work this agency has done to so effectively capture all that is great about Cobb County."

"Georgia's tourism industry plays a vital role in our economic prosperity and many of the state's most popular sites are right here in Cobb County," said Kevin Langston, deputy commissioner for Tourism for the Georgia Department of Economic Development.  "Thanks to the reinvigorated efforts of Cobb Travel & Tourism even more people will discover what Georgia has to offer."

"Cobb Travel & Tourism is better positioned than most as the economy improves to play an even greater role in the economic development of Cobb County," said Tim Lee, chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissioners.  "With this new presence Cobb Travel & Tourism can continue to help fuel the economic vitality of the county."

The new Cobb Travel & Tourism name was unveiled at a high energy event held at The Brickyard at Marietta Station. Before a standing-room-only crowd, Geiger unveiled the organization's new logo and new brand identity with a dynamic new promotional video.
